Bobcats second, fourth in Legacy Relays

OTTAWA LAKE – Blissfield showed its depth by sweeping the Bobcat Legacy Relays Saturday at Whiteford.

The Bobcats placed second in the girls scoring and fourth in the boys. Britton Deerfield was seventh in the boys event and eighth in the girls event. There were nine teams competing.

Blissfield took first place in the girls 4×800 Relay, boys high jump, girls shot put, the co-ed shuttle hurdles relay and the co-ed 4×1600.

Whiteford took first in the boys pole vault relay, the boys 4×200, the boys 4×100, the girls pole vault and the 4×400 Relay.

“I am really proud of our athletes at Whiteford,” Bobcat coach Jay Yockey said. “They came out and competed and pushed themselves.”

BD set a meet record in the combined throws with Andrew Bunker, Zach Gonzales and Owen Bates, making a total of 352-11.5.

For Whiteford, Brek Ruddy hit a qualifying mark of 13-9 in the pole vault, which is a personal best for him. He led the Bobcats to the pole vault relay finish with Brody Hillard and Mason Miller.

The 4×100 Bobcats were Drew Ruddy, Antonio Nochtrab, Hillard and Nate Andrews. The 4×200 Relay included Jess Saylor, Andrew, Nachtrab and Drew Ruddy. The Bobcats also placed second in the 4×400 Relay plus the long jump and high jump relays.

The first-place Bobcat girls pole vault relay was with Carolyn Mohler, Briar Wing and Kate Masters. The 4×100 Bobcats were Koralynn Billau, Brielle White, Sierra DeBarr and Molly Fojtik while the 4×400 Relay was led by Nina Bauman, Braelynn Chiotti, Wing and White. Whiteford was second in the long jump and discus relay.

Blissfield had a great day.

The co-ed shuttle hurdles relay team of Skyler Kimple, De’Mya Gibbons, Braedyn Tennant and Leigh Wyman was first as was the co-ed 4×1600 relay with Bryson Pooley, Noah Sills, Hope Miller and Hailey Sills.

The Royals girls shot put relay was made up of De’Mya Gibbons, Kaitlin Bloom and Riley Stutzman while the girls 4×800 was Sills, Miller, Mollie Yeager and Anna Hallett.

The boys high jump replay was with Kimple, Tennant and Peyton Marks.

The Royals had six runners-up finishes and six third-place finishes.
