OTTAWA LAKE – Whiteford’s Athletic Hall of Fame will welcome eight new members at halftime of Whiteford’s boys varsity basketball game on Friday, Jan. 26, 2018.
The Hall of Fame was formed in the 1980s by then-athletic director John Flynn. The new members will bring the total to 154 honorees.
Honored will be:
Jason Mensing, varsity football coach and athletic director, for being named Coach of the Year in 2017 by the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association.
Nolan Adams for being named First Team All-State by the Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association in 2017.
Thomas Eitniear for earning First Team All-State football honors in 2015 and 2017 and Second Team All-State baseball honors in 2016.
Alyssa Granata for being named First Team All-State in softball in 2017.
Lucas Tesznar for earning First Team All-State honors in football in both 2016 and 2017.
Jarret Atherton for winning First Team All-State honors in football in 2017.
Matthew Taylor for earning First Team All-State in football in 2017.
And, Connor Lenhart for being named to the Michigan High School Golf Coaches Association All-State team in 2016 and 2017.
Adams, Eitniear, Tesznar, Atherton, Taylor and Lenhart are seniors at Whiteford while Granata graduated this past spring.
A brief ceremony will be held at halftime of the basketball game and each honoree will receive a certificate. At the close of the school year, a plaque will be put on display outside of the gymnasium in honor of each athlete’s accomplishments.
