Whiteford’s basketball teams will continue their quests for Tri-County Conference championships tonight.
THE BOBCAT GIRLS will play at home against Madison. Whiteford is 9-4 overall and 7-1 in the TCC, a game behind Morenci (8-0 in TCC). Madison is 6-7 overall, but 6-3 in the league and have won five of its past six TCC games. The Trojans resurgence has been, at least in part, to the return of Laura Teunion-Smith to the lineup.
In the past five games, Teunion-Smith has averaged 13.8 points a game. Against Morenci Thursday, Teunion-Smith scored 17 points and pulled down 22 rebounds. Morenci had to come back from a 35-33 deficit with 15 seconds remaining to beat the Trojans 37-35.
For the Bobcats, Baylee Baldwin continues to lead the team in scoring, averaging more than 17 points a game. She also has hit a TCC-leading 25 3-pointers on the season:
