BRITTON – Whiteford shut out Britton Deerfield twice Wednesday, sweeping the first Tri-County Conference doubleheader of the season.
The 3-0 Bobcats got a complete game shutout from Andrew Toda (2-0) in the 8-0 opening game, then won the second game 13-0 as Nolan Adams (1-0) and Toda combined on a three-hitter.
The Bobcats had nine hits in the opener with Toda, Adams and Nathan Bauman having multi-hit games. Bauman’s two-run double in the first sparked the offensive onslaught and Antonio DiTerlizzi smacked a two-run home run for the Bobcats.
In the second game, Bauman drove in four runs and went 3-for-3 at the plate. The Bobcats had 10 hits in all. Thomas Eitniear had two hits and two RBI.
Adams fanned five Patriot hitters in his five innings of work.
The Bobcats travel to Hudson Friday for a doubleheader. The Tigers played in the Division 4 state championship game last season.
