PETERSBURG – Alex Kohler slugged a pair of home runs and Andrew Toda shutout Summerfield on just four hits as Whiteford beat Summerfield 7-0 in the first game a TCC double header Wednesday. The Bobcats then came back and won the nightcap, 6-1, behind a strong pitching performance from Nolan Adams.
The Bobcats are 9-1 overall and 6-0 in the TCC.
Toda, who is 5-0 on the season, struck out six and walked just one in seven innings of work. In 35 innings pitched this season, the senior has 28 strikeouts and has allowed just one run, which was unearned. He’s scattered 15 hits and walked 10.
Kohler hit home runs in the fifth and sixth innings and finished with four RBI. He and Ty Eitniear led the Bobcat offense with two hits each. Nathan Bauman and Hunter Lake also had hits.
In the second game, Adams struck out six, walked two and gave up five Bulldog hits. He got the win against Bulldog ace Derek Clark, who went 5 2/3 innings, allowing nine hits and five runs while striking out seven Bobcats.
Adams and Kohler had doubles for the Bobcat offense. Ty Eitniear, Adams, Antonio DiTerlizzi and Austin Wynn each had two hits with Thomas Eitniear, Kohler and Toda each having one. Adams had three RBI. Wynn scored twice.
Adams is 3-0 on the season on the mound.
Whiteford remained undefeated in the TCC with the sweep.
