Eleven Whiteford Bobcats have been named to the First Team All Tri-County Conference 2018 football team by the league’s coaches.
The Bobcats finished 7-0 and undefeated in the TCC for the third consecutive season.
Here’s a look at the Bobcats making first team:
FIRST TEAM OFFENSE
Center – Nicholas Donnelly, senior: A first-year starter, Donnelly helped the Whiteford rushing attack gain more than 3,200 yards and average 10.1 yards per rushing attempt.
Guard – Ian Slick, senior: A 500-pound squatter in the weight room, Slick burst onto the scene with four quarterback sacks in the state championship game in 2017 and has been a key lineman this year.
Tight end – Nathan Bauman, senior: Bauman was moved from fullback to tight end this year and will likely play H-back in college. He caught two passes for 55 yards for the Bobcats.
Wide receiver – Bradyn Clark-Gilmore, senior: Since his freshman year he played quarterback and wingback before settling in at tight end in the fourth game of 2017. He’s now the all-time leading receiver in school history. This year, he caught 15 passes for 457 yards – 30.5 yards per catch – in the regular season.
Quarterback – Ty Eitniear, senior: Has thrown for 15 touchdowns and had just one interception while stepping into the starting quarterback job and leading the team to a 10-0 record. He has the highest completion percentage of any TCC starting quarterback.
Running back – Logan Murphy, senior: Whiteford’s all-time leading rusher, Murphy averaged 12.1 yards a carry in the regular season and is nearing 4,000 career yards rushing.
FIRST TEAM DEFENSE
Lineman – Cody Westfall, senior: Tore his ACL as a junior, then dedicated his off-season to getting back onto the field. He was moved from linebacker to the defensive tackle spot and made 9.5 tackles for loss.
Lineman – De’Shaun Williams, senior: The 6-3, 320-pound tackle made 45 tackles for the Bobcats. “He jumps out at people on film,” Whiteford coach Jason Mensing said.
End – Treylan Hess, senior: Mensing wasn’t sure where Hess was going to play when the fall practice began but Hess found a spot at defensive end. He led Whiteford with 18 tackles for loss and is the team leader in tackles.
Outside linebacker – Zack Bertz, senior: A two-year starter and back-to-back All-TCC player, Bertz has been effective in both pass coverage and stopping the run. On offense he averages 14 yards a carry and has scored 16 touchdowns.
Defensive back – Hunter Lake, senior: He returned two interceptions for touchdowns and was a dangerous punt returner for the Bobcats. Has been credited for 18 passes broken-up so far. “He’s a tremendous competitor,” Mensing said.
