Bobcat softball team sweeps Adrian to lift lid on 2019 season

ADRIAN – Whiteford’s hitters had a big day by scoring 27 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Adrian to open the 2019 prep softball season.

The Bobcats took the first game 12-2 in five innings and completed the sweep with a 15-5 game two win.

In the opener, Baylee Baldwin had three singles, four RBI, scored three runs and had a double. Karsyn Berns-Moore had two singles and a triple, scored three times and knocked in three runs. Lindey Walker had two singles and two RBI while Milly Iott and two RBI on a double.

Walker was the winning pitcher, scattering seven hits and striking out 10.

In the second game, freshman pitcher Berlynn Keller got the win, allowing two earned run on five hits and four strikeouts.

At the plate Sophia Dauterman had four hits, Iott two doubles, Madison Durden two singles and a double, Baldwin two singles and Berns-Moore two singles. Jessica Link had a single and a double and Durden knocked in five runs.

“It was a good start,” Whiteford coach Kris Hubbard said. “All 15 players got to play, the pitchers threw well and the hitters made good contact.”

The 2-0 Bobcats are idle until May 8 when they take on Milan.
