Thomas wins two events, Williams wins shot put at Regional track event

HILLSDALE – Whiteford will send three individuals and two relays to the state track meet.

At the Division 4 meet at Hillsdale College Saturday, Paige Thomas was regional champion in the 100 (13.02) and 200 (27.2) while DeShaun Williams threw a personal best 44-11.5 in the shot put, winning the regional title. Both qualified for the state meet.

Whiteford will also send its 4×100 and 4×200 relay teams to the state meet, based on reaching the state qualifying time, and Logan Murphy in 200, also based on meeting the state qualifying time.

Murphy, Bradyn Clark-Gilmore, Hunter Lake and Zack Bertz make up both relay squads.

“It was an awesome day for Whiteford track,” coach Mike Hughes said.

The Bobcat boys placed 10th overall with 21 points while the girls were eighth with 26 points. Addison was the regional team boys champion and Pittsford the regional girls champion.
