CLINTON — The final two unbeaten teams in the Tri-County Conference will square off Friday night at Wegner Field as the Whiteford Bobcats (4-2) travel to Clinton (6-0) to battle the undefeated and No. 4 ranked Redskins.
It’s the second straight game against a state-ranked opponent for the Bobcats and third game against a top 10 team in Division 7 so far this season.
Clinton is 4-0 in the TCC. Whiteford is 3-0 in league play.
Clinton and Whiteford have made a habit out of meeting to decide the TCC championship. Over the past seven years, no team other than the Redskins (2012-2015) and Bobcats (2016-2018) have brought home league championships. This year will probably be no different as the winner of tonight’s game will have the inside track on clinching at least a share of the league title.
Clinton features an outstanding backfield, led by Jack Voll, Brayden Randolph and Noah DeShano, plus quarterback Dylan Settles. Randolph leads the team in tackles and is the emotional leader.
Clinton leads the all-time series between the two teams, 13-3. The Bobcats have won each of the past three meetings, however.
