GameDay: Bobcats host BD in Week 8 matchup of 4-3 teams

OTTAWA LAKE — Whiteford’s playoff drive begins tonight.

The Bobcats enter tonight’s Week 8 contest against Britton Deerfield with a 4-3 record, the same as the Patriots. Both teams need victories in each of its final two games to guarantee a post-season berth. For the Bobcats, it’s a streak of seven years on the line. For BD, the Patriots are looking for their first playoff appearance since 2013.

Whiteford holds the all-time series lead between the two schools, 19-7, and have won 15 straight against BD.

Whiteford is 2-1 at home this season. Tonight’s game vs. BD will be the fourth of five home games for the Bobcats, who host Summerfield in Week 9.

BD is coming off a 30-14 win over Royal Oak Shrine who was ranked in the Division 7 Top 10 heading into that game. Whiteford is just two weeks removed from beating Sand Creek, at the time the No. 8 team in D7.

Whiteford still has a shot at sharing the Tri-County Conference championship. The Bobcats own a 3-1 TCC record. Clinton is 5-0 in the league and plays its final TCC game tonight at Adrian College against Madison. If the 4-3 Trojans pull the upset, the Bobcats could share the league title by winning its final two regular season league games.
