OTTAWA LAKE — The Whiteford Bobcats will go on the road to start the Division 8 state football playoffs this week, traveling to take on Royal Oak Shrine Catholic.
The Bobcats (5-4) will be playing Shrine (7-2) for the first time in school history. The game will be played at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 2.
Whiteford will be making their eighth consecutive appearance in the state football playoffs, tying a Tri-County Conference record. It’s the second-longest streak in Monroe County Region history. The Bobcats have made the playoffs in all eight years that Jason Mensing has coached the Bobcats and have an all-time record of 21-18 in the post season. Mensing has a 16-6 playoff record.
The winner of the Shrine-Bobcat game will play the winner of Britton Deerfield (5-4) vs. Detroit Public Safety Academy (5-4).
