Whiteford, other schools, moving toward return of high school sports

OTTAWA LAKE – The return of high school sports at Whiteford High School and across the state is moving closer and closer.

Whiteford High School Athletic Director Jason Mensing will host an athletic/parent meeting at 2 p.m. Sunday to go over the return-to-play protocols and requirements for all students.

A link to the Zoom meeting will be sent through a Honeywell message.

The Michigan High School Athletic Association released new guidelines recently to help usher in the return of organized activity for Michigan’s schools. Hundreds of football coaches across the state joined in a meeting organized by the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association Thursday to go over parameters as well.

High school sports across the state were suspended in mid-March due to the Coronavirus pandemic, which ultimately wiped out spring sports for all Michigan student athletes.
