ERIE – Whiteford’s boys cross country team finished second in the TCC Jamboree Tuesday at Erie, the second straight second-place finish for the Bobcats in league jamborees.
“I’m very pleased with how we raced,” Whiteford coach Jay Yockey said. “We had a goal to reach on the boys side and they delivered. I challenged them to reach for something that has never been done in school history – a second place finish in the TCC.”
Whiteford finished with 58 points, second behind leader Erie Mason, who had 42.
Luke Murphy led the way with a sixth-place finish with a time of 18:50. Elliot Rodger sand Keegan Masters finished eighth and ninth with times of 19:07 and 19:10. Cole Crouch ran a personal record 19:58, giving him 13th place, while Ryan Oberle finished 22nd with a time of 21:11. Nick Oberle (22:22) and Cooper Bieber (24:00) also finished in the top 40.
On the girls side, Annie Gapp was the first Bobcat finisher with a fourth-place finish in 22:42. Sidney Miller came 25th and Sarah Oberle 32nd.
“Annie Gapp ran 54 seconds faster than her previous PR,” Yockey said. “She is starting to realize she is capable of doing great things and running fast. I have her a goal at practice on Monday and she did better than I asked.”
The Bobcats are entered in Saturday’s Clinton Invitational.
The TCC Championship meet is October 20.
