CLINTON – Whiteford’s boys cross country team placed third at the Clinton Invitational Saturday and had a top 10 finisher in Luke Murphy.
Whiteford’s boys had 102 points, putting them behind winner Manchester (36 points) and host Clinton (52 points).
Murphy finished in 18:30, for 10th place. Keegan Masters came in 14th with a time of 18:46 while Elliott Rodgers was 19th with a time of 19:10. Cole Crouch placed 29th, Ryan Oberle 32nd, Nick Oberle 41st and Cooper Bieber 47th.
For Whiteford’s girls, Annie Gapp was the highest finisher by running the course in 22:52, good for 16th place. Sarah Oberle finished 34th and Sidney Miller in 38th.
“We ran solid races on a tough course that was loaded with talent and bigger schools,” Whiteford’s Jay Yockey said. “The course had tight turns and kept the field close together. We hit some season and personal records today, which is what we want to start seeing at this point in the season.
“Everyone showed grit and determination today and I can’t wait to see how their times continue to improve.”
The Bobcats race at the Madison Invitational Tuesday.
