Bobcat cross country team brings home some hardware from Madison Invite

ADRIAN — Whiteford’s boys cross country team didn’t leave Adrian without some hardware Tuesday.

The Bobcat boys finished runner-up at the Madison invitational, scoring 51 points to finish behind Erie Mason.

Elliott Rodgers, Keegan Masters and Luke Murphy came in 5-7 place with times of 18:59, 19:00 and 19:02 on a great showing for the Bobcats. Cole Crouch placed 16th and Ryan Oberle 17th with times of 20:46 and 21:00. Nick Oberle (22:10) and Cooper Bieber (22:55) also finished in the top 30.

“Today was great in that we ran together as a team and helped each other run aggressive and smart races,” Whiteford coach Jay Yockey said. “We know Erie Mason is tough to beat, but we went out and made our marks and came home second and brought home our first trophy. It’s great to see these boys’ effort and work pay off.”

In the girls race, Sarab Oberle was 17th (26:08) and Sidney Miller finished just a few seconds behind her.

Whiteford will run again Saturday at Sand Creek.
