Whiteford volleyball team honored for outstanding work in the classroom

OTTAWA LAKE – Whiteford’s volleyball team has been honored for its prowess in the classroom this season.

Kyleigh Borowicz and Paige Thomas both earned Academic All-State through the Michigan Interscholastic Volleyball Coaches Association while the entire Bobcat team received the Michigan State Team Academic Award with a combined grade point average of higher than 3.9.

“This is the highest GPA of any team I’ve coached over the years,” said Whiteford coach Buffy Ruddy. “I’m so proud of these young ladies. They are true student-athletes and great representatives of Whiteford.”

Borowicz has a GPA of 4.0 while Thomas has a 3.9 GPA. The entire Bobcat team earned All-Academic award from the Tri-County Conference.

By earning the All-Academic award from the volleyball coaches association, Whiteford is now qualified for the AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) national academic award.
