Whiteford boys basketball team opens season with win behind 34 points by Cole Giesige

OTTAWA LAKE — Whiteford came back from a one-point deficit to open the fourth quarter to beat Sand Creek, 57-54, and take the season opener from the visiting Aggies.

Cole Giesige scored 13 of his 34 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Bobcats. He was the only Bobcat to reach double figures.

“He played great,” Whiteford coach Nick Abalos said.

Whiteford railed after first quarter, at halftime and after three quarters. But, the Bobcats took the lead in the fourth quarter and stayed in front for the victory.
