ERIE — Ypsilanti Arbor Prep showed Whiteford why its a state title contender Wednesday, beating the Bobcats 89-17 to advance to the Division 3 District finals.
Kinzie Kohler led Whiteford with 8 points. The Bobcats closed the season 4-12.
Arbor Prep jumped out to a 27-9 lead after one quarter then scored 36 points in the second. Junior Mya Petticord, ranked among the nation’s top players, finished with 28 points. Arbor Prep made 12 3-pointers. They were ranked No. 2 in the final Association Press Division 3 poll of the season.
“They are all of that,” Whiteford coach Les Manley told The Monroe News after the game. “I’ve never experienced anything like that as a coach or a player.”
