Ruddy resigns as Whiteford varsity volleyball coach

OTTAWA LAKE – Whiteford is seeking candidates for a new varsity volleyball coach after Buffy Ruddy announced her resignation.

Ruddy had coached the Bobcat varsity volleyball team for five seasons. Her best season was in 2018 when the Bobcats went 19-14-1.

Ruddy is a 1989 Bedford graduate and member of that school’s athletic Hall of Fame. She was first team All-State in volleyball in 1988 and 1989, was the Monroe News player of the year in 1988-89 and region volleyball player of the decade for the 1980s. She attended Michigan State University on a volleyball scholarship.

Whiteford is also seeking a JV head volleyball coach and varsity assistant.
