Sophomore Keegan Masters finished second in the Tri-County Conference Cross Country Jamboree held at Gerber Park Tuesday afternoon.
Masters finished the course in 18:13.70, about 17 seconds behind Jackson Ansel from Erie Mason.
“Keegan Masters made a big statement with his second-place finish,” Whiteford coach Jay Yockey said.
The Bobcats placed second as a team, behind Mason, with 44 points.
“We had a great day of racing,” Yockey said. “We know some places we need to make some ground up on for the next two TCC meets. I am proud of how everyone ran today. Everyone ran well executed races.”
Elliott Rodgers (19:43.6) placed fifth, Cole Crouch 10th (20:47.3) and Ryan Oberle 12th (21:01.7) for Whiteford. Luke Murphy came in 16th, Zach Kahn 18th and Nick Oberle 19th. Brendon Masters was 22nd.
The Bobcat girls finished just inside the top 20 with Megan Butz placing 19th (28:41.0) and Sidney Miller right behind her at 28:43.4.
“The girls ran great, too,” Yockey added. “I’m really proud of their efforts and what they do on a daily basis.”
