MORENCI – The Whiteford Bobcat varsity football team is looking for a new Week 4 opponent after being informed Tuesday afternoon that the game with Morenci has been canceled.

Morenci Athletic Director Jed Hall said the cancelation is due to “low numbers due to contact tracing from COVID-19 positive cases within the school.”

Bobcat football coach and athletic director Jason Mensing said Whiteford has started searching for a new opponent.

If one cannot be found, the Bobcats will get the forfeit victory.

The 3-0 Bobcats are ranked No. 2 in the latest Division 8 Associated Press poll.
