Giesige tosses gem, Bobcat bats light up in sweep of Madison

OTTAWA LAKE – Cole Giesige’s first game gem and some hot bats in Game 2 led Whiteford to a doubleheader sweep of Madison Wednesday.

Giesige allowed just one hit while striking out 14 in the 8-0 Game 1 win for Whiteford. At the plate he hit a triple.

Shea Ruddy scored three times and had one hit. Logan Tammerine, Luke Rasor, Levi Hillard, Carter Ruehle, Cole Courch and Isaiah Joerin all had hits.

In the second game, Whiteford and Madison were tied 2-2 through one inning, but the Bobcat bats exploded for three runs in the second, two in the fifth and nine in the sixth while knocking out 13 hits in the 16-2 win.

Giesige and Ruehle each had three hits while Ruddy and Rasor had two each. Giesige and Rasor had doubles. Ryin Ruddy, Ruehle and Rasor had two RBIs.

Hillard was the winning pitcher in Game 2, striking out 11 in five innings.

Whiteford is 5-1 on the season and 2-0 in the TCC.
