CANTON – Whiteford started the Michigan Challenge in Canton by winning three games Saturday.
Play continues on Sunday with a pair of games starting at 8 a.m. against milford.
On Saturday, the Bobcats defeated Walled Lake Northern’s JV team 9-0 (the varsity couldn’t play because of prom), Southgate Anderson varsity 17-3, then Livonia Stevenson varsity 16-0.
Unity Nelson was 2-0 in two, five-inning wins with 12 strikeouts in each game. Berlynn Keller was the winner in the third game, striking out nine in five innings of work.
The Bobcat hitters were led Saturday by Aly VanBrandt, who went 8-for-11 with eight RBIs, seven runs scored and three stolen bases. Keller had six hits, including a home run, and four RBI while Anna VanBrandt had five hits and scored four times.
The Bobcats are 25-2.
