Whiteford sweeps rival Summerfield in prep baseball action

PETERSBURG – Whiteford’s baseball team needed only nine hits to score 20 runs and sweep Summerfield, 9-3 and 11-1. 

Nate Stevens got the win in game one, going six and two-thirds innings, striking out 13 Bulldogs. Luke Vida, Brendon Masters, Logan Tammerine and Stevens had the Bobcat hits – all singles. Jake Wadsworth had three hitsf or Summerfield.

In game two, former Summerfield athlete Logan Keane went all five innings for the Bobcats, striking out 11 and allowing just two hits and no earned runs. Stevens and Tammerine had two hits apiece for the 8-1 Bobcats, who scored five runs in the first inning. 

Wadsworth took the loss despite giving up just four hits.
