Whiteford boys take Webberville Invite

WEBBERVILLE – Whiteford’s boys track and field team put together a great day and won the Auburn C. Perkins Spartan Invite Friday at Webberville High School.

The Bobcats scored 110 points, 28 points more than runner-up Concord. Twenty teams competed.

Keegan Masters won the 800, Jess Saylor and Nate Andrews went 1-2 in the 400 and the 1600 Relay with Andrews, Ryin Ruddy, Saylor and Masters took first.

Ruddy was second in the 300 hurdles and Masters second in the mile.

The girls placed sixth overall. Alaina McClain won the 800 and Kenzie Gray was second in the shot put and threw over 100-feet for a personal best in the discus. The 3200 Relay team of Annie Gapp, Braelynn Chiotti, Briar Wing and McClain placed third.

“We had some solid performances and were just grateful for nice conditions to be competing in,” Whiteford coach Jay Yockey said. “Coaching this group of kids is a lot of fun and it’s great to see hard work pay off. Many of them step up and rise to the occasion when it matters and do a lot that I ask of them.”

The Bobcats run at Sand Creek Tuesday.
