MILAN – Whiteford and Milan split a non-league doubleheader Friday.
The Bobcats won the first game, 1-0, in a pitcher’s duel. Unity Nelson struck out 10 and allowed just one hit.
In game two, the Big Reds won 9-8 in an international tie-breaker. The teams went into the extra inning tied 5-5. Whiteford scored three runs, then Milan four to take the win.
Shay Alexander, Addeson Cousino and Koralynn Billau had two hits each. Karlei Conard had two RBIs.
“It’s always a great battle when we play Milan,” Bobcat coach Matt VanBrandt said. “Over the past four years, we are all even at 4-4. Both teams will have some great take-aways from today.”
