Whiteford hands Erie Mason 1-point loss

ERIE – Whiteford pulled out a 39-38 victory Thursday on the road in a Tri-County Conference battle with Erie Mason.

Emily Hill scored a game-high 13 points to lead the Bobcats. Emily Rasor contributed 10 points and Ava Wood 9.

Inside the final minute, Mason tied the game at 37-37 but two free throws by Hill with 20 seconds to go put Whiteford in front, 39-37.

The Bobcats fouled Mason in the final seconds, sending Mason to the free throw line. After a made free throw made it 39-38, the Bobcats called timeout. The potential tying free throw missed, Wood grabbed the rebound and the Bobcats secured the win.

Whiteford, who led by as many as 15 in the third quarter, is 2-1 on the season.
