Whiteford drops first as Summerfield has big night

PETERSBURG – Whiteford came into the Tri-County Conference clash with a 2-0 record but was no match for 6-0 Summerfield.

The Bulldogs won every quarter and outscored the Bobcats by nearly 30 points over the last three periods.

“Holding a team of that caliber to 40 points is a great team accomplishment,” Summerfield coach Phil Schiffler said.

Tyler Dafoe did a great job on defense, holding Whiteford’s top scorer, Rylan Joerin, to a field goal.

“The emphasis was to keep him under 10 and Dafoe, mainly, was able to do that,” Schiffler said.

Dafoe also found time to score 13 points and pull down 8 rebounds.

Jha Jha Hornback didn’t score in the first quarter but finished with 24 points. Brody St. John had 16 points, 7 assists, 6 steals and 5 rebounds.

Nate Andrews led 2-1 Whiteford with 8 points.
