Whiteford has solid day against strong competition at Stockbridge

STOCKBRIDGE – The Bobcats competed at Stockbridge Friday and held their own against some strong Division 2 competition.

“We had a lot of small victories today and fell short of some goals,” Whiteford coach Jay Yockey said. “But we are working hard to accomplish those goals. We saw some great competition tonight that showed us that we can do a lot of things well and push ourselves beyond what we have done before.”

Brody Hillard, Brek Ruddy, Nate Andrews and Jess Saylor won the 4×400 relay and currently have third fastest time in the state in Division 3. Saylor, Hillard, Andrews and Drew Ruddy teamed up to win the 4×200. Brek Ruddy was second in the pole vault and Keegan Thomas was second in the high jump with his personal best jump.

The Bobcat girls were second in the 4×100, 4×200 and 4×400. Alaina McClain won the 800 while Carolyn Mohler was second in the pole vault. Brielle White was second in the 200 and Briar Wing was second in the 400.

Both the boys and girls freshman-sophomore teams won the 4×400 races. girls team comprised of Breslin Wing, Harlow Jurgenson, Glory Speweik and Sierra DeBarr. The boys team was made up of Gavin Meinert, Camden Ellis, Ryan Thomas, and George Thompson. 

Whiteford hosts Summerfield Tuesday in the final home meet of the season. It is also Senior Day.
