Whiteford wins TCC showdown as Griffith pours in 35 points

ADRIAN – Cole Griffith scored a career-high 35 points to lead the Bobcats to a huge 69-61 win on the road at Lenawee Christian Monday, putting the Bobcats into a tie for the Tri-County Conference lead.

Griffith scored the first 11 Bobcat points of the game, had 19 at halftime and beating his previous season high by 13 points.

“He was a monster for us tonight,” Whiteford coach Jordan Bollin said.

Whiteford led by as many as 16 points when they took a 45-29 advantage with 6:56 left in the third quarter, but the Cougars fought back and took the lead at 57-56 with 5:51 left in the fourth quarter.

Griffith tied the game at 59-59 with 3:34 left then scored two straight buckets to make it 63-59 with 2:18 left. Whiteford put the game away with free throws.

Luke Henegar and Keegan Thomas both scored 8 points off the bench. Caden Schroyer had 10 points.

Whiteford is 13-3 overall and 7-2 in the TCC, tied atop the league standings with LCS.
