OTTAWA LAKE – The Bobcats knocked off unbeaten Montpelier last week. This week they face undefeated Edon, who is 6-0 and tied with Whiteford atop the Great Lakes Conference standings at 3-0.

“They have a new head coach, but they run the exact same offense,” Bobcats coach Todd Thieken said. “They will run the ball five times a game, but drop back and throw the ball just about every play.”

Edon averages 45.2 points a game. Sophomore quarterback Jaron Grove has averaged more than 300 yards passing a game. Last week against Sand Creek he threw for 367 yards and four touchdowns.

“They have several very good receivers,” Thieken said. “If they get behind you, they’ll make you pay. The quarterback will make you pay if you give him too much time.”

The Bobcats have won three straight games after starting the season 0-2. Edon will be the fourth team this season that was state-ranked at the time the Bobcats played them.

Last week Whiteford faced 5-0 Montpelier and beat them 58-6.
