Bobcats win Great Lakes Conference title with 52-0 shutout of Summerfield

OTTAWA LAKE – Tre Eitniear threw for three touchdowns and Brek Ruddy rushed for nearly 200 yards to lead the Whiteford Bobcats to a 52-0 victory over arch-rival Summerfield Friday, securing the 12th all-time league title in school history.

The Bobcats (6-2) improved to 6-0 in the first year of the Great Lakes Conference with a game remaining against 5-3 Sand Creek.

Eitniear threw two touchdown passes to fellow senior Austin Bauman in the first half, from 24 and 44 yards out, and also threw a TD pass to Mason Luzier.

Ruddy scored both of his rushing touchdowns in the third quarter. Elijah Vance scored the first touchdown of the game and Caden Stewart the last.

Eitniear finished with 116 yards passing and 56 on the ground. Ruddy had 186 yards, the longest on a 61-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter.

It was Senior Night and Military Appreciation Night. The Bobcats wore special uniforms for the game, and the players ran out of a tent carrying flags from all branches of service. Several current or former military members were recognized in a pre-game ceremony.

Whiteford closes the regular season at Sand Creek Friday as the Bobcats hope to earn a home playoff game.
