ADRIAN — Whiteford’s baseball season came to an end Saturday with a 6-0 loss to Summerfield in the Division 4 District semifinal game at Lenawee Christian.
The Bobcats, who won a fourth consecutive Tri-County Conference title this season, close the year 20-7. It brings to close the baseball careers of several Bobcat seniors – Nolan Adams, Corbin Willis, Alex Kohler, Antonio DiTerlizzi, Thomas Eitniear, Andrew Toda and Jacob Lewis.
The Bulldogs scored first in the third inning on an unearned run. Kirk Knerr singled and advanced to third when Bryce Smith was safe on an error and scored on a single by Brock Olmstead. Derek Clark and Mark Keller scored in the fifth inning and the Bulldogs added three more in the sixth to put the game away. Clark has the big hit of the inning, a single with the bases loaded that scored two.
Toda was tagged with the loss on the mound. Mark Keller started for Summerfield and got the win with Clark closing out the game.
Whiteford swept Summerfield in the regular season.
