Whiteford defensive tackle DeShaun Williams has been named to the second team All-State squad by the Associated Press, the highest of any TCC player.
Williams had 54 tackles, one sack, 17.5 tackles for loss and recovered two fumbles for the Tri-County Conference champion Bobcats. Whiteford finished the season 10-1.
Teammate Logan Murphy made the honorable mention list as a running back.
Murphy finished his career as the all-time leading rusher in Whiteford history with 3,794 yards, including 1,217 yards on just 113 carries this season. Murphy had five games in which he carried the ball fewer than 10 times, but still managed to gain at least 100 yards in seven of Whiteford’s 11 games.
The Michigan High School Football Coaches Association came out with its All-State team last month. The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press still have All-State teams to announce.
