Bobcats open girls basketball season tonight at Blissfield

The Whiteford Bobcats will open the 2018-19 girls basketball season tonight on the road against the Blissfield Royals.

The Bobcats welcome back the school’s all-time leading 3-point shooter in Baylee Baldwin along with three other starters back from last season’s 13-8 team.

Baldwin is a senior, along with Katlyn Taylor, Katie Lipp, Madison Durden, Maddison Eipperle and Lindsey Walker. Juniors on the squad include Jessica Mercurio and Natalia DiTerlizzi. Paige Thomas is a sophomore and freshman Kinzie Kohler joins the varsity as well.

Baldwin enters the season with 818 career points and 86 career 3-pointers. She averaged 19.4 points a game last season while leading the TCC in scoring with 270 points in 14 league games. She was named First Team All-TCC last year. Walker was a second team choice, averaging 8 points a game.

Blissfield has several players back from last season’s 9-12 team. Sophomore Kara Stutzman led the Royals in scoring last season, averaging just under 10 points a game while making 31 3-pointers. Senior Lauren Tanis made 25 3-pointers last year.
