Lake, Bauman lead Bobcats to comeback win over BD

OTTAWA LAKE – Hunter Lake hit three second-half 3-pointers and Whiteford outscored Britton Deerfield by 14 points in the second half to come back from a 12-point deficit to beat the Patriots, 68-62.

Lake’s third 3-pointer of the second half broke a 51-51 tie with just under seven minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. He hit two late free throws to put the game out of reach and finished with 22 points and seven steals.

“Then went 2-3 zone and then a box-and-one against him,” Whiteford coach Nick Abalos said. “It was during that stretch that we came back and got the lead. Once we had the lead, they went back to man-to-man and he handled the ball and got several assists.”

Nick Marchant hit a key 3-pointer down the stretch for the Bobcats and Nate Bauman had several big rebounds in the fourth quarter. Bauman finished with 16 points while Brodi Tesznar and Luke Masserant each scored 8 for the Bobcats.

Whiteford, who is at Madison Thursday, improved to 4-9 overall and 3-5 in the TCC. BD dropped to 6-5 and 5-3 in the TCC.
