MILAN – Whiteford’s softball team split with Milan Monday as it jumped back into the regular season after spring break.
The Bobcats dropped the opener, 6-3, despite a three-hit effort from Milly Iott. Lindsey Walker, Madison Durden, Jessica Link and Karsyn Berns-Moore added singles. Walker pitched for the Bobcats.
In the second game, the Bobcats needed six innings to get past the Big Reds, winning 18-8.
Berlynn Keller (2-0) picked up the win in the circle for the Bobcats.
Baylee Baldwin had a big day at the plate, going 3-for-5, scoring two runs, knocking in four and stealing four bases. Katie Lipp, Sophia Dauterman and Durden each added three hits while Berns-Moore and Walker had two hits apiece. Berns-Moore had a double and three RBIs. Iott had a single and scored twice.
The 3-1 Bobcats are at Morenci for a doubleheader Wednesday at are at Bedford Friday in another doubleheader.
