PETERSBURG – Whiteford’s TCC-champion softball team came up a run short in the Division 4 District title game Saturday, losing to Sand Creek 3-2 and closing out the season with a 29-5 record.
Whiteford earned a trip to the finals with a 12-2 win over Summerfield. Lindsey Walker had nine strikeouts in the circle, picking up the win. She also had two singles and a double. Milly Iott had two singles and three RBIs while Sophia Dauterman had a pair of singles and Karsyn Berns-Moore had a triple.
In the 11-inning district finals, Walker had two doubles, Berns-Moore two hits and Katie Lipp a single and a double. Madison Durden had a bit RBI in the bottom of the seventh to extend the game into extra innings.
Walker struck out 15 in the contest.
