The 1977-78 Whiteford volleyball team captured another Tri-County Conference crown, the only Bobcat team to do so.
Whiteford’s football team struggled to a 1-8 season but the boys basketball team had big success. When talking about the best teams to ever take the court for the Whiteford Bobcat boys’ basketball team, the 1977-78 team is mentioned at or near the top and with good reason.
Whiteford gained area notice not only by having two players transfer from the Toledo City League but because they were winning.
Jerome Pierce (Toledo Scott) and Ron Nowak (Toledo Macomber) entered the school in the fall and took to the basketball floor like it was made for them. Pierce would provide fans with thrilling dunks on several occasions and quickly became one of the best rebounders in school history.
