OTTAWA LAKE — Whiteford Stoneco Community Park was host to the first 2020-21 sporting event of the fall season for the Bobcat Thursday as the cross country team hosted the annual Nick Haynes Memorial Invitational.
Clinton won both the boys and girls races.


Here’s a rundown of the Whiteford results:
In the Freshman/Sophomore race, Keegan Masters was the No. 1 finisher with an 8th place finish in a time of 20:34. Elliot Rodgers was 17th in 22:53, and Cooper Bieber was 30th in 27:29
In the Boys Junior-Senior race, Cole Crouch was the first finisher for Whiteford in a time of 21:49 for 19th place while Luke Murphy was 20th in 21:56. Nick and Ryan Oberle were 28th and 29th in 24:22 and 24:28.
In the Freshman/Sophomore girls race, Annie Gapp was 12th to lead Whiteford with a time of 26:30 while Madelyn Thomas was 15th in 26:48.
In the Junior-Senior race, Sidney Miller placed 21st with a time of 29:18 while Sarah Oberle was 24th with a time of 31:55.
“This was our first race of the season, so we weren’t looking for PRs, but to build on what we’ve done this summer,” said first-year Whiteford coach Jay Yockey. “We know we’ll see our times drop as the season goes on.”
The Bobcats run next at the Hudson Early Bird Invitational on Tuesday, Sept. 8.
