SAND CREEK – Whiteford’s boys cross country team placed fourth at Sand Creek’s Al Constable Invitational Saturday.
The Bobcats finished behind state power Hanover-Horton (32), Napoleon (69) and Tri-County Conference leader Erie Mason (89), and ahead of Madison (118), Summerfield (125) and Sand Creek (160).
Luke Murphy was the highest-finishing Bobcat by coming in 11th place with a time of 18:16.3. Freshman Keegan Masters placed 22nd (19:04.1) and sophomore Elliot Rodgers was 27th (19:38.0).
The Bobcats will compete in Tuesday’s Tri-County Conference championship meet in Hudson. Whiteford finished second in each of the first two league jamborees, which count toward half of the final standings. The championship meet counts the other half.
Whiteford’s highest-ever finish the TCC boys cross country final standings is third, which they did in 2008, 2014, 2015 and 2016.
In the girls race Saturday at Sand Creek, Sarah Oberle was 38th (26:20.3) and Sidney Miller 43rd for the Bobcats.
