Bauman First Team, Shaw honorable mention on Associated Press All-State list

Whiteford two-way tackle Noah Bauman continues to earn accolades for his outstanding junior football season.

The three-year starter has repeated his choice on the Associated Press Division 7 and Division 8 First Team All-State team, announced today. The AP team is chosen by a panel of 10 Michigan sports writers from across the state.

Bauman has already earned post-season honors from the Tri-County Conference, Monroe News and Michigan High School Football Coaches Association.

He was the anchor of an offensive line for an offense that averaged 5.8 yards per rush. He didn’t allow a sack. On defense, he had 20 solo tackles and 31 assists, plus had 11.5 tackles for loss.

Also Tuesday, Whiteford running back Devon Shaw received honorable mention notice on the list.

Shaw rushed for 961 yards this season and led Whiteford in scoring with 15 rushing touchdowns. He also had 49 receiving yards, giving him more than 1,000 yards of total offense. He set a single-game Whiteford record with 40 carries in the game against Summerfield and had a career-high 215 yards rushing against Pittsford. In a three-game stretch late in the season, Shaw carried the ball 89 times for 418 yards and 10 touchdowns as Whiteford made a run to the Division 8 district finals and finished 6-3.
