The Michigan High School Athletic Association announced Wednesday that basketball practice can begin in some form this weekend, but non-contact only, and competition cannot begin before Feb. 1.

The news came today just a few days before full practices for boys and girls basketball was to begin and less than 15 days before games were to be held.
