Whiteford sweeps Erie Mason in first home game since 2019

OTTAWA LAKE — Whiteford’s softball team picked up a pair of Tri-County Conference wins Wednesday, getting past Erie Mason 10-1 and 12-6.

The Bobcats were playing their first home game since May 18, 2019.

“It was a great home opener,” Whiteford coach Matt VanBrandt said.

Berlynn Keller recorded 15 strikeouts in the opener, allowing zero earned runs.

Mackenzie Ulery, Anna VanBrandt, Jillian Webb, and Aly VanBrandt had two or more hits each as the Bobcat offense pounded out 16 hits.

The Bobcats held an early lead but had to comeback for the victory in the nightcap. Keller picked up the win, pitching the final three innings. She also went 4-for-4 at the plate in the second game.

“Give Mason credit,” VanBrandt said. “They battled back after the first game loss and took the lead, then our girls were able to come up with some great at-bats to put us on top.”
