OTTAWA LAKE – Two quality wins Saturday gave the Bobcats and 18-3 record for the season and the championship trophy in the Whiteford Softball Invitational.
The Bobcats beat Blissfield 6-1 and Ypsilanti Lincoln 5-0 in the three-team tournament.
“Blissfield and Lincoln are both good teams and it was fun to play well and get a couple weekend wins in our own tournament,” Whiteford softball coach Matt VanBrandt said. “The girls were very happy to earn the hardware.”
Berlynn Keller struck out 12 Royals in the opening game and also had a pair of hits at the plate, as did Shay Alexander and Anna VanBrandt.
In the second game, Unity Nelson struck out 14 and allowed just one hit in the game against Lincoln.
Whiteford will travel to Sand Creek for a TCC doubleheader Wednesday.
