MORENCI – Whiteford took two games from Morenci Wednesday to stay in the race for the TCC baseball championship.
Cole Giesige won game one 13-1 and Cole Crouch got the win in the second game, 11-0.
Levi Hillard had the big bat in the first game, going 3-for-5 and scoring four runs. Crouch and Logan Tammerine had two hits each. Hillard, Giesige, Shea Ruddy, Luke Masserant and Austin Wynn had two hits each in the second game.
Giesige struck out 13 in the first game while Crouch struck out six in the second. The two pitchers combined to give up just three hits.
Whiteford is 8-2 in the TCC, a game behind Erie Mason. The Eagles, who swept Whiteford early in the season, are 9-0 with a double header remaining against Britton Deerfield and an unfinished game against Morenci.
