OTTAWA LAKE — A first-inning home run by Logan Tammerine got the Whiteford offense in gear and starting pitcher Levi Hillard pitched a strong game as the Bobcats beat Allen Park Cabrini 9-1 to win the Division 4 pre-district baseball game.
Hillard went five innings, surrendering one run and five hits while striking out seven in five innings. Eric Parriett pitched the final six outs.
Luke Rasor and Austin Wynn had RBIs in a three-run fourth inning to help the Bobcat cause. Whiteford had 11 hits off the Cabrini starter, including three by Tammerine, two by Hillard and two by Cole Crouch.
Tammerine is now batting .381 with five home runs and 31 RBIs. He’s struck out just four times in 104 plate appearances.
The 19-9 Bobcats take on Britton Deerfield at 9 a.m. Saturday at home in the first game of the district semifinals. Summerfield plays Taylor Trilium in the second game. The finals will follow.
