Masters second, Whiteford third in Blissfield Early Bird Invite

DEERFIELD – Keegan Masters finished second in the Blissfield Early Bird Invitational Tuesday at Gerber Park in Deerfield, helping the Bobcats finished third overall.

Masters finished in 18:01.01.

“He had a great race,” Whiteford coach Jay Yockey said. “He was probably 10th in the first half mile of the race, but let the race develop and worked his way to second. He ran a smart race.”

Elliott Rodgers was 12th for the Bobcats (19:30.75), Luke Murphy finished 17th (19:55.7) and Ryan Oberle came in 22nd (20:40.68). Also finishing in the top 30 were Nick Oberle in 25th, Brendon Masters in 28th and Zach Kahn 30th.

The Bobcats placed third, behind first-place finisher Erie Mason and Dundee.

For the girls, Megan Butz placed 23rd and Sidney Miller 40th.

“Megan ran her best of the season,” Yockey said. “She did a great job leaving it all on the course tonight.”
