Whiteford will travel to Erie Friday to play the Eagles Friday in the final regular season game with hopes of solidifying its playoff points and claiming the outright TCC championship.
The Bobcats are 7-1 heading into the game and on a four-game winning streak after a non-league loss to Edon, Ohio.
Whiteford and Erie Mason have not played since 2016.
Last week’s win over Summerfield clinched at least a share of the TCC title for the Bobcats, its first since 2018, and fifth TCC in school history and eighth league title in school history counting three River Raisin Conference championships in the 1960s The Bobcats can win the TCC title outright Friday with a win over Erie Mason.
Whiteford coach Jason Mensing said knowing the Bobcats have a young team makes the league title all that much more exciting.
“We had that as one of our goals,” he said. “With the great teams in our league and the fact that we only have five seniors, I certainly wasn’t sure, but our team has a high character and a strong work ethic and a desire to improve weekly.”
A win Friday would give Whiteford an 8-1 regular. The last time the Bobcats won eight games in the regular season was 2018 when the Bobcats went 9-0.
Here are some pre-game notes, rosters and stats heading into Friday’s game vs. Erie Mason.
