BLISSFIELD – Whiteford’s offense went cold, scoring just nine points over 10-minute stretch in the second and third quarters and the Bobcats fell, 63-48, to the Blissfield Royals in a non-league game.
“We struggled,” Bobcat coach Nick Abalos said. “We only scored four points in the second quarter. You aren’t going to win too many games with a four-point quarter.”
Whiteford fell behind 9-2 in the first quarter but went on a 12-4 run to close the quarter and take a 14-13 lead after eight minutes. Luke Rasor started the rally with a 3-pointer at the 2:55 mark and finished it with a basket at the buzzer.
The Royals took the lead with 7:24 left in the second quarter and never gave it up. Josh Hill came in and hit four triples for the Bobcats.
“He gave us a spark and tried to get us back into it,” Abalos said.
The Bobcats cut it to 46-35 on a Cole Giesige shot to close the third quarter and had it to an eight point game on Hill’s final 3-pointer, but couldn’t get closer.
Blissfield’s Nick Ostas had a huge game with 24 points, 20 rebounds and six blocked shots – all career highs.
Rasor finished with 14 points, Hill 12 and Giesige 8 for the 8-5 Bobcats, who have dropped three of its last four games.
